Terms of service

Last updated October 2026

These terms cover your use of StyleScout, which is run by its owner in New Zealand (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using StyleScout you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

What StyleScout does

StyleScout recommends clothing, outfits and prices from other retailers based on your preferences and activity. We're not a retailer: we don't sell, ship or handle returns for any product. You buy directly from the store, under its own terms.

Who can use it

You must be 16 or older to create an account or use StyleScout.

Your account

  • An account is for one person. Don't share it or sign in as someone else.
  • Keep your password safe. You're responsible for what happens on your account, so if you think someone else has access, change your password and sign out of all devices from Settings.
  • Profiles for people you shop for live inside your account. Only add someone who is happy for you to do so.

Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • scrape, copy in bulk or resell StyleScout's data, or use bots to access it;
  • try to break, overload or get around the limits and security of the service;
  • upload anything illegal, hateful, sexual, violent or harassing;
  • upload photos of other people without their permission;
  • use public polls, boards, gift lists, group looks or challenges to post offensive titles, names or comments, to impersonate anyone, or to spam or manipulate votes.

We may remove content that breaks these rules.

Automatic suggestions

The stylist, outfit ratings, try-on and other suggestions are made automatically from the catalogue, the stores' own product details and your taste. They can be wrong. Try-on is an estimate from published measurements, not a guarantee of how something will fit or look. Check sizes and product details with the retailer before you buy, and don't upload photos of other people without their permission.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you add, such as closet items, outfits, photos, boards and chats. You give us permission to store, process and display it only as needed to run the features you use, including sending it to the services named in our Privacy policy. Anything you make public can be seen by anyone with the link until you make it private or delete it.

Prices, links and commissions

  • Prices, stock and sizes come from retailers and can change or be out of date. The retailer's price at checkout is the one that applies.
  • Purchases, delivery, returns and refunds are between you and the retailer.
  • Many links to stores are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you buy. This never raises the price you pay and it doesn't change how pieces are ranked for you.
  • Price-drop and stock alerts are best effort and may be late or missed.

Plans and billing

StyleScout has a free plan and paid plans. Each plan has monthly and daily limits on the stylist, outfit generation and photo search, shown on the pricing page. When paid plans are available, they're billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through Stripe, and renew until you cancel. You can cancel from Settings, and your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments aren't refundable. We'll tell you before a price change affects you.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which also cancels any paid plan. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, and we may change or stop parts of StyleScout. If we close StyleScout, we'll give you notice where we can so you can download your data.

Disclaimers and liability

StyleScout is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for products, delivery or service from retailers, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986.

Governing law

These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and New Zealand courts can hear any dispute about them.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll let you know in the app before it takes effect.
